| A standard is a document, drawn up by consensus and approval by a recognized
organization, which provides, for common and repeated uses, rules, guidelines
or characteristics, for activities or their results, guaranteeing an optimal
level in a given context.
The operating requirement, the safety of use, the longevity of the products are not any more left to chance but are controlled and guaranteed, thanks to the standards, by tested rules. Today, standardization extends to new fields, advanced technologies, for which the economic stakes are sometimes considerable: teleinformatics, new energies, etc. The CEB deals with the electrotechnical and electronic sectors while the IBN deals with the other fields. |
